March Updates
Welcome Back! Happy St. Patrick's Day! Yesterday I taught the Jenny Haskins Basket Full of Posies Class. What
a great class that was. The colors each person chose was so pretty. I even had a 12 year old student that did a wonderful
job on her pillow. The Christening gown is nearly finished, just a few snaps and a good pressing and it's
ready for baby. It was quite a job removing all the lace and beading on the wedding dress. My granddaughter's First
Communion dress is nearly finished. One more sleeve to set in and have her try it on for the hemming and it will be finished.
I have a Bible cover to smock for her also. The church quilt top is finished and ready to go to the quilter tomorrow.
My flannel quilt top is finished and awaiting my attention to do the quilting. That may come later in the spring.
My smocking group is meeting here this week to make baby boy gowns. We have a project called "WeeCare" where we
make and donate little gowns to the hospitals to have for the precious ones that don't survive birth. Most gowns are white
with smocking. The gowns we are doing this week will be blue with no smocking, just a little bit of embroidery. The hospitals
have requested some boy specific gowns. We will set up a little assembly line of cutters, pressers, sergers and machines and
just sew all day until the job is done. For more information on the Wee Care Project visit www.smocking.org
Have
a Happy Sewing Day! Sandy
